Mohammed Saleh. Man of faith and business

As you may be able to tell, I'm not very good at spelling. I was informed that the way I was spelling Muhammed, was in fact, one in three ways of spelling that word. So I called Muhammed (Mohammed, or Mohammad) and asked him how to spell his name. I didn't write it down, so I forget. But I know it started with the Mo, not the MU. as for the last two letters, I am 99% sure it ends with an Ed, not Ad. And of course, I discovered all of this after making the movie, exporting it, compressing it and then up-loading it here, all of which adds up to about an hour and a half worth of time. I guess I am writing all of this to let you know, that I am an idiot at times. Please ignor the sp mistake (this time) and try to take something from the story. Thanks!

Lewis Caissie

Lewis is a big Leafs fan, and keeps a game schedual next to the t.v. in his room.

Lewis and his hockey card collection, and admiring a nice sunset.

Due to the Autism, Lewis rocks back and forth while sitting or standing.

Lewis bowls with a team made up of other Autistic teenagers, and adults.

Here are eight photos I used for my Multiple Pictures class assignment. For my story I got to know a young man by the name of Lewis Caissie. Lewis, 16, was born to a mother who lived on the streets and was a drug user. After Lewis' birth, his mother kept him on the streets with her for 5 months, before eventually giving him up to an orphanage. When his mother dropped him off at the orphange, Lewis was in rough shape and had a severe case of scabies.
Enter Rick and Dianne Caissie. Two loving pontential parents looking to change a childs life. When they adopted Lewis, they had no clue what was in store for them. The first weekend they had him at home, he got sick. They took him to the hospital and discovered that Lewis had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and Autism. I followed Lewis and his mother to one of Lewis' weekly bowling games, which is played with a group of Autistic children, and adults. I also got to visit with Lewis at his home, and he showed me around, and I got to know a little bit about him. Lewis is a great young man and I encourage everyone who reads this to get to know someone who they might think to be a little different. You may be suprised to what you can learn from them.

Team Boot-Hene.

So, If you came to my site via the link on Cohene.com, I apologize for the redundancy of this post. Just ignore this one and take a look at the others, if you wish. For those who havn't seen cohene.com, here's the story. Mark had an idea inspired by photographer Richard Avedon, who asked his friend and fellow photographer,Lee Friedlander, if he could take his picture. Lee agreed, but only if Richard would agree to be photographed as well. (the original photo is seen on cohene.com) So with this idea in mind, we went to work. Enjoy!

Melanie Fordham

Melanie Fordham is a friend of mine who offered to be a model for my fashion photo shoot which I need for a lighting class assignment. I should also note that Melanie is a graduated (or soon to be) Photojournalism student from Loyalist College. She will be leaving Canada for Paris France where she will be a photo editor at the VU agency. She is also a pretty gifted photographer, as you can see here.
Thanks for stopping by!

Belleville Bulls

So I shot the Belleville Bulls last regular season home game last night here in Belleville and it was a pretty decent time. Compared to my first shoot at a hockey game (this being my second) I took way less photos, and I had more that I was happy with. Last night goalie Mike Murphy shut out the 38 shots the Peterborough Petes threw at him. This was Murphy's 5th shutout game of the season. I think its pretty incredible the flexibility this goalie, among others, has. So here are some shots of Murphy doin' what he does.
Keep it real.

And Another.

So this is another Ian and August shot which I took last week. I am currently working on a few things for school and for myself as well, which would be the news I casually referred to a few posts ago. With my lack of technological skills though, it seems my plans are hinderd slightly. The news is that I am working on a website (www.danielboot.com), so I can have a more "professional" air about me and my photography. I purchased the domain and hosting space, but I have no idea on how to make a website. So I'm asking for some help. If anyone who reads this knows how to build a decent website using windows, I am asking that they spread the knowledge:) Thanks a lot! Stay well.

Ian, August and Ruth.

Here are a few photos of my good friend Ian Baker, from back home in Woodstock. Ian and I met in highschool and have been friends since. We lived together for 2 years or so, and for a time we worked together too... With him in these photos are two of his pets. A Golden Retriever named August, and a Rabbit named Ruth. An interesting note, August has a rare mutation in her fur on her left shoulder, that causes the fur to be black. Ian recently got a tattoo on his, you guessed it, left shoulder... It was all un-planned which brings to mind the saying "pets look like their owners" (or is it the other way around?) Either way, what a coincidence, don't ya think?

Feb Fest in Kingston.

RMC vs Queens University.
Queens won.

Everytime a goal was scored, a nine pound canon
would be fired.
The game was played using the rules, and equipment
from the 1800's. Including no pads for the goalies, and
a square puck.

So I'm sitting here in my room, thinking of something to write under this photoblog post. Something witty perhaps? Something humorous? Is that how you spell Humurous? Words of wisdom maybe? Well, How about I just tell you a little about how my life is at the moment. Im getting off my ass more often, taking more photos, and feeling good about having accomplished something at the end of my day(s). Ive gone through life up until this past year, just living life...going to work, getting paid...having some fun here and there. Coming to Loyalist and making the friends Ive made, learning a lot about my camera, my future profession, and myself, Ive come to be a happier person at the end of the day. Ive realized some things, and I am realizing some more things with each passing day. I just hope I am able to utilize what I've learned to be the best photographer I can be...my Life can't be lived day to day to make ends meet...thats it. I rambled on here. I apologize if it didn't make any sense...enjoy the photos, because (i hope) thats what you stopped by for! Love!

Happy Belated Birthday post

To my sister. Michelle Boot, who turned 21 on Sunday.
